Description
Etroplus canarensis
Origin: Southwestern India – Western Ghats
Geographic Range: Freshwater habitats, including rivers, streams, and lakes in the region.
Diet: Omnivore; Enjoys a varied diet including high-quality pellets, live or frozen foods such as brine shrimp, daphnia, and vegetable matter.
Average Adult Size: Around 4-6 inches (10-15 cm)
Sexual Dimorphism: Limited sexual dimorphism; males may exhibit more intense coloration, especially during breeding.
Minimum Tank Size: 40 gallons for a pair, larger for a community
Temperament: Generally peaceful, but can be territorial during breeding. Best kept in pairs or in a spacious community tank with other non-aggressive fish.
