Description
Geographic Range: Lake Tanganyika, East Africa
Diet: Carnivorous – feed a diet consisting mainly of high-quality pellets or flakes, supplemented with occasional live or frozen foods such as bloodworms, brine shrimp, or small crustaceans.
Average Adult Size: 6-8 inches (15-20 cm)
Preferred Water Parameters: pH 7.8-8.6, hardness (dH) 8-12°, temperature 75-80°F (24-27°C)
Minimum Tank Size: 75 gallons (284 liters)
Acceptable Tank Mates: Other peaceful Lake Tanganyika cichlids, avoid aggressive species; provide plenty of open swimming space and rock formations for hiding and territorial behavior.
