Maskaheros argenteus
Origin: Central America – Rio Usumacinta drainage (Mexico, Guatemala)
Geographic Range: Found in rivers and lakes in the region.
Diet: Omnivore; Enjoys a varied diet including high-quality pellets, live or frozen foods such as bloodworms, brine shrimp, and a mix of meaty and vegetable matter.
Average Adult Size: Around 12-14 inches (30-35 cm)
Sexual Dimorphism: Limited sexual dimorphism; males may have slightly longer fins and brighter coloration.
Minimum Tank Size: 75 gallons or larger for a single specimen; larger for a breeding pair.
Temperament: Generally peaceful compared to more aggressive cichlid species. Best kept with other robust and non-aggressive tankmates. May exhibit territorial behavior during breeding.
