Geographic Range: Lake Tanganyika, Africa
Diet: Carnivorous; primarily feeds on small fish and invertebrates.
Average Adult Size: 6-8 inches
Preferred Water Parameters: pH 8.0-9.0, Temperature 75-82°F
Minimum Tank Size: 55 gallons
Acceptable Tank Mates: Other Tanganyikan cichlids and similarly sized fish. Provide plenty of rocks and caves for hiding and establishing territories. Avoid keeping with much larger or overly aggressive species. Ensure the tank has a sandy substrate and ample hiding places to mimic their natural habitat.
